What Are The Symptoms Of Fever

Some people with minimal illness will present a high temperature, while a very sick person may only has a degree or less of fever. Therefore the temperature of a person does not always determine the seriousness of a person's illness. The accompanying symptoms will tell the tale:

  • Irritability

  • Clinginess

  • Feels either too cold or too hot

  • Face may become flushed and forehead feels hot to the touch

  • Dryness in the mouth

  • Bitter taste in the mouth

  • Bad breath

  • Possible dry, uncomfortable feeling throat

  • Possible headache with a feeling of heaviness in the head (flu-like symptom)

Different Types Of Fever

In addition to the symptoms listed above, fevers may be further differentiated as follows:

  • Cold - There are feelings of cold and chills, with possible teeth chattering and shivering. Face is pale and the person isn't able to wear enough clothing to get warm, especially hands and feet.

  • Hot - The person will complain of feeling too hot, wanting to take off her clothes and throw off her blankets. Face is flushed, feels irritable and may also feel chilled at times.

  • Consult your doctor immediately if the person is having behavioral symptoms such as twitching or other strange movements, has a major change in appearance, loses consciousness, is having difficulty in breathing or cannot stop vomiting.

  • Sometimes the fever can be the result of poisoning or too much sun and heat, and if you think that this might be the case, seek medical attention immediately.
