How Wind Triggers Illnesses According To TCM

Wind is said to be the trigger of illnesses. It is capable of rampaging through the defensive energy of the body and taking the other elements (hot, cold, damp and dry) for a ride. Wind has the ability to penetrate and can make the illness move more quickly. We may become restless as cats do, or irritated, or affected by what the wind carries, such as:

  • Pollen

  • Viruses

  • Bacteria

  • Germs

  • Dust

  • Pollution

The most unpleasant wind is that from the East, associated with spring, which brings about:

  • Flu

  • Headaches

  • Aches and pains

  • Colds

  • Diarrhea

Wind is associated with severe conditions which rise quickly and fall just as quickly leaving a change behind them. Typical wind conditions are allergies, muscle cramps, convulsions, itching skin and strokes.
